Prescott Summer Institute

The Prescott College Summer Institute hosts undergraduate and graduate students for experience-based coursework on the U.S prison system and other special topics.  Students learn directly from advocates, activists, academics, and policy makers who are addressing the wide array of social problems linked to prison expansion. Students engage in hands-on learning, working alongside individuals dedicated to abolition, prisoner advocacy, and the prison reform movements. The course offers engagement with political and economic analysis of the impacts of prison growth, hands on experience working in and learning about a wide variety of kinds of jobs available in these fields, and an opportunity to understand a significant contemporary social movement from the perspectives of its leaders and participants.
