Family Services

CRI’s Family Services Initiative is designed to work with children and families of incarcerated men and women to alleviate the effects of trauma of having an incarcerated loved one. The initiative encompasses working with families around other impactful traumas in order to break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration. CRI staff develops and facilitates action plans with families struggling to maintain familial bonds and we provide crisis intervention responding to specific family needs. For some families this has meant helping them buy winter coats or assisting family members in finding a temporary housing in a homeless shelter; with other families this has meant finding outside support to facilitate interventions.
