History

Community Resource Initiative (CRI) incorporated in 2007 as a capital defense investigation office and a community resource center.  After years of working on death penalty cases, CRI’s founders recognized the dual need to provide resources and services to those communities that are adversely affected by death penalty prosecutions, while providing those who conduct capital defense with the many tools and resources they need to represent their clients. CRI was designed serve these dual needs while continuing to affirm the human capacity for growth, transformation and resilience through our casework.

CRI is a non-hierarchical organization.  Each staff member is accountable to the organization as a whole, and contributes to transparency and the wellbeing of the organization.  We participate in consensus-based decision-making.
